I like the storyline of this show,it attract me so much
I really wanted to like this movie. I feel terribly cynical trashing it, and that's why I'm giving it a middling 5. Actually, I'm giving it a 5 because there were some superb performances.
As somebody who had not heard any of this before, it became a curious phenomenon to sit and watch a film and slowly have the realities begin to click into place.
Although I seem to have had higher expectations than I thought, the movie is super entertaining.
This is the ultimate sci-fi B movie night film to enjoy with popcorn. I really enjoyed watching this. The film has good special effects for low budget, a good storyline, funny lines, interesting aliens and monsters. It's obvious that many would hate it and give this a very low rating because it's not a mainstream film and it's just a decent science fiction. It doesn't have any Hollywood pap or any of the popular PC fillups. it's just devoid of this rubbish you get in big blockbusters these days. It's better than a lot of Hollywood big films. Sometimes the smaller productions are really entertaining. I also want to point out that if you suffer arachnophobia, please don't watch this.
We've all seen interpretations of Jane Austen, William Shakespeare, H.G. Wells, Jules Verne, etc.. This is yet another! Despite the fact that John Carter in this film was not a Civil War soldier does nothing to destroy the basic premise of the Edgar Rice Burroughs story. Please watch before you form an opinion.
Actually, it should be 0 our of 10. The script is abominable, the costumes are ludicrous and the acting is abysmal, and that's being kind to all three. This is not the worst film I've seen, but it's very very close. Do not waste your time. I have to add another line before I can post so, This is a horrible film. It has no redeeming qualities at all.
I watch all movies that are based on ERB novels. All of 'em. I think I even watched that Bo Derek nightmare. But I could not go the distance on this dog. As has been mentioned, the martians are quite grotesque and this makes one wonder why they cast Ms. Lords. The effects, I concede, are surprisingly credible given the low budget. The problem lies in the atrocious script. It is as dull as an old knife. A Burroughs flick can be a lot of things, but boring should not be one of them. Even on a skimpy budget, I could have done a better adaptation than this. So could your eight year old child or perhaps your Border Collie. If you loved the book as I did, you simply must stay away from this. It will actually hurt you.
