Sick Product of a Sick System
This is a tender, generous movie that likes its characters and presents them as real people, full of flaws and strengths.
if their story seems completely bonkers, almost like a feverish work of fiction, you ain't heard nothing yet.
All of these films share one commonality, that being a kind of emotional center that humanizes a cast of monsters.
Forced myself to finish the movie but it was difficult. Such a let down after the 1st movie. Will never watch it again. Story was ridiculous and made no sense. The villan was a joke and Sherlock and Dr Watson were unbelievable. Songs from the movie we're bad. Some of them I wanted to fast forward so the screeching noise would be over. Loved the 1st so much and this ended being such a big let down.
Thanks to the glory of movie pass, I am now enabled to spend my time seeing movies like Sherlock Gnomes. The upside to this movie was that it didn't take itself seriously, which should in theory make it immune to critique. The downside, however, is everything about it. This movie is certainly not worth anyone's time.
The sequel to 2011's cult classic "Gnomeo and Juliet" really put my imagination into overdrive! This movie had everything that I expected to come out of this movie: A storyline that turns interesting every 15 mins, loveable humor, amazing voice acting, and pure grade A imagination! This movie is me and my sister's favorite movie so far this year! With me being nineteen and my sister being sixteen and having seen "Gnomeo and Juliet" in the theaters when it made it's big screen debut back in 2011, we were welcome back into the movie with open arms in imagination and just overall a FANTASTIC SEQUEL!Hate this sequel is being blasted by critics and users alike. If you've seen "Gnomeo and Juliet", You would probably get a better understanding of the movie!Overall, FANTASTIC MOVIE AND JUST OVERALL CREATIVE!!!!!
(Sigh) . . . Lacking, would be my one word review of "Sherlock Gnomes". Though the animation itself is nice, the basic story and lacklustre script will probably leave most of the children in the audience bored, let alone the adults. The vocal performances are a mixed bag. With Gnomeo and Juliet effectively sidelined for a lot of the film, their performers (James McAvoy and Emily Blunt) probably give the flattest turns, but this does allow for Johnny Depp and, particularly, Jamie Demetriou to shine as Holmes and Moriaty respectively. There is a song crowbarred in around the middle of the picture from Mary j Blige's Irene Adler, which is as inexplicable as it is awful. In fact, music in general it a bit of a problem for the film - with a few bars of various Elton John hits piped into certain scenes, but it's like hearing a panpipe version in a lift, recognisable but not entertaining. There is, as I say, some nice animation but there aren't nearly enough gags that land, and certainly not enough that would appeal to any of the older kids / adults in the audience.
