Waste of time
Sorry, this movie sucks
Simply A Masterpiece
The film's masterful storytelling did its job. The message was clear. No need to overdo.
Awful, name grab for fans of these two. They look have asleep and dazed through out the entire movie.
First of all when I start watching this movie I could imagine that this is not the next Academy Award winner. But so bad!? Everything is bad: Plot, actors, production design and dialogues (german dubbing)Sorry! Does anyone really believe that a submarine is as big as shown? Come on! I guess none of the production team was ever visiting a submarine. There is no much space. The walls look like concrete walls. I do not believe what I saw.I do not know how bad the english dialogues are? But the german dubbing is only on a C-Movie level. A very good example could be heard right at the beginning of the motion picture - the shoot-out at the Hotel. JCVD's girlfriend notices that the dongle is not in her jacket/trousers. In German she says something like: "I have forgotten the dongle in the hotel. Wait here, I will get it!" The camera shows now a thing - the dongle?!? - which lies on the parking area. She runs now over to this thing, grabs it and tries to run back to JCVD and is been shot. Now my questions: Why? What? I thought the dongle has been forgotten in the hotel? And if this thing is not the dongle, what is it? And how important is it? And where is this "important' thing for the rest of the film? But one positive thing is that JCVD and Lundgren has gotten their standard German voices.Sorry for some mistakes english is not my mothertongue!
Looks like Jean-Claude Van Damme's hair is going the way of Nicolas Cage's.The hair is a bad sign that this movie is not what I'm wanting from Van Damme. I see a lot of gun play, but I see no marshal arts. It's a Van Damme movie with Dolph Lundgren supporting in what looks like their version of the Stallone/Schwarzenegger lackluster Escape Plan (With a little of Steven Seagal's Under Siege for flavor). They play two men trapped on a submarine being used as a CIA maximum prison.Far be it for me to judge low budget filmmakers for trying to turn lemons into lemonade, but it looks like they spent all their money (Which was too much of their money) to put Van Damme and Lundgren on the poster (Then again, that's the only reason why I went to see it, so money well spent).I can't help but to critique that submarine though. As Van Damme and some hot chick try to out run a group of mercenary-like prison guards I look around and totally see they wrote in the lines of the sub being refurbished so it can hold prisoners to try to hide the fact that it is not a sub. I felt like I was watching a cheap 1950s b- Sci-Fi it was so bad.Other than that, Van Damme is totally phoning this in. I know he's getting old, but I know he can still do the kicks and I got none of that. Barely any tasseling. A few gun battles but noting making this movie worthy of having two legendary action heroes in it. Lundgren most likely did not even do a week of work for his check he was barely in this.
I've never known a film to have so many conversations with guns pointed at one another. It also suffers from bad guys with assault rifles can't hit good guys. But good guys with handguns kill bad guys with one shot. But of course suspended belief is something you'll need to do a lot of for this film. Continuity is also a glaring issue in places. The action really is just lots of shootouts in narrow corridors on a submarine but done in very basic, point and shoot closed shots. But can the plot or screenplay redeem this film instead? Not really. It suffers from double crossings a lot but acted out like a tv soap. It's very tongue in cheek and will have you muttering "Really?" It's watchable but not engaging. This has nothing of a Lundgren/Van Damme action film of past but more a cheap tv movie about bad CIA operatives wanting to get rich featuring actresses who you'd think got their acting skills from adult movies.
