Better Late Then Never
Absolutely the worst movie.
A great movie, one of the best of this year. There was a bit of confusion at one point in the plot, but nothing serious.
i thought this was a very funny and clever parody of the first Star Wars film.it's basically the characters from Family guy portraying the characters from the film.there are some inspired choices in which characters portray who.some of the lines are very funny.everything is very fast paced.it stays pretty true to the original film, while adding it's own unique spin.the DVD running time is listed as 48 minutes(it's actually a bit longer than that)so it's obviously condensed.anyway,i laughed a lot.as an aside,i noticed this particular episode seems toned down in term of pushing the envelope,at least compared to other episodes of Family Guy i have seen.maybe it's just my imagination, but,it doesn't seem as sick and twisted or perverse, though there is still some of that element.and yet it's still riotously funny.th version i watched is from Laugh it up Fuzzball:The Family Guy Trilogy collection which contains all three parodies of the first three original Star Wars films.for me Family Guy:Blue Harvest is an 8/10
Without a doubt the best family guy episode ever. It starts when the power goes out and peter starts to tell the story of star wars episode four. The story of the episode is basically the same as the real thing, but they make fun of some of the flaws of the actual star wars. The main character line up is like this:Peter----Han Solo Chris----Luke Skywalker Brian----Chewbacca Lois----Princess Leah Stewie----Darth Vader Meg----The one eyed monster in the garbage pit Herbert----Obi Wan Kanobi Quagmire----C3PO Clevland----R2D2If you have the opportunity to see this, take it, it is the funniest thing i have ever seen. Anybody who doesn't like this movie must be a fan of star trek and not star wars. The title Blue Harvest is quite interesting. It was the fake production title of Return of the Jedi. It has also been released that the empire strikes back family guy episode will be entitled: Something... Something... Something... Dark Side.
If you want to see Star Wars done in Family Guy animation, and for it to only last about forty- five minutes, this is for you. If you want to laugh, well you're out of luck! All the good bits are used in the TV commercial for it. Basically the line about Stewie's diapers having gone over to the Dark Side. That's about it.I'm not sure why it turned out being so laughless. Maybe they wanted to be as faithful to the original as they could, and thus didn't concentrate enough on the point of making a spoof. Perhaps also by abandoning their joke format from the show, where there's so many "remember that time?" non sequiturs, in favor of actually having a plot they were held to, they were working outside their comfort zone. Who knows? There's also the disturbing fact that Rush Limbaugh was employed, and presumably paid, to contribute his voice to this. That man shouldn't be getting paid for anything. My first thought upon renting this and finding out that it wasn't feature length was that I had been ripped off, but instead I felt relieved I had only wasted half the time (I still wish I hadn't paid to see it, though).
IMHO, Family Guy just keeps getting better and better with each episode..Last night, I watched this episode, and it just kept topping itself as it went along.I am glad that Lucas has the good humour to allow this and the Robot Chicken Star Wars episode to be made during this 30th anniversary of his movie. I'll have to go back and watch this again with some friends of mine just to see their reaction.I can't wait to see what the rest of this season is going to bring us.. or will the creators of the show push it too far again and get canceled?
