Good story, Not enough for a whole film
In truth, there is barely enough story here to make a film.
It’s sentimental, ridiculously long and only occasionally funny
This is a small, humorous movie in some ways, but it has a huge heart. What a nice experience.
Many people probably rated this movie low just because they thought of it as being a real horror movie with zombies and were disappointed. Guess what, they were awfully wrong. This movie is a hilarious farce with "the living dead" which plays with the wounds of the finnish society. Some people take the symbolism very seriously and refuse to understand the meaning of it. For example, it is very common for people to move out of the countryside to bigger towns and in this movie it is portrayed as "zombies" coming to the city and at least one of them trying to find a job and a woman. Well isn't that just life portrayed in symbolic manner? The characters are made really dumb, but that is a way of portraying attitudes and prejudices of upper-class towards the laborers. The red troops who were defeated in the civil war are also resurrected from the dead. I find that idea very bold in a way because anything of the civil war is hardly ever portrayed in movies in this manner and if it is there's always only one truth. This is really an underrated gem that is hard to find anywhere. It is not to be taken seriously, it is mostly comedy with very little horror elements.
No idea what they intended. After 30 minutes I stopped the tape to bring it back to the store. I did not found humour, or interesting story, or anything. The beginning was much too long already (I stopped after 10 minutes for the first time, but nearly nothing has happened during this time). Maybe they also had no idea what to do. Sorry.
Yeah...if it would be serious, it would be ok. In the beginning, the film starts off as moody and creepy. All the dead village idiot-villains are brough back to live, and they attempt to bring a whole bunch of dead warriors back to life as well. Ok, but NOOO...of course the word "serious" fades away, and the "humour" is brough to the plot and dialogue. The first one has only a little bit of humour, and that's why its a helluva lot better than this. The last thirty minutes are the worst! And there's no craphic violence either! C-R-A-P!
