Extraterrestrial Visitors
After a meteor-like object lands in the woods, poachers unearth a cave filled with alien eggs. As they attempt to destroy the eggs, one of them is killed by an unseen creature, leaving one egg intact. A young boy named Tommy finds the remaining egg and brings it home to hatch. As more murders occur around town, Tommy learns that his new pet alien, who he names Trumpy, possesses telekinetic powers.

Memorable, crazy movie
A film with more than the usual spoiler issues. Talking about it in any detail feels akin to handing you a gift-wrapped present and saying, "I hope you like it -- It's a thriller about a diabolical secret experiment."
Each character in this movie — down to the smallest one — is an individual rather than a type, prone to spontaneous changes of mood and sometimes amusing outbursts of pettiness or ill humor.
The movie turns out to be a little better than the average. Starting from a romantic formula often seen in the cinema, it ends in the most predictable (and somewhat bland) way.
Over the years, I have tried to keep up with IMDb's ever-changing Bottom 100 list. While I love good films, occasionally I like having a laugh by watching completely inept ones...and often the IMDb list is good for a few chuckles. However, I have noticed one thing...many of these lowest rated films really are NOT that bad. Heck, with over 19,000 reviews to my credit, I can think of hundreds of films worse than many of the IMDb entries. Well, there's a reason for this...many films on the list were skewered on "Mystery Science Theater 3000" and so they are more familiar to many other bad films. Plus, I think viewers often mix up a terrible film with one that is very bad but made fun of on the show. So, when I saw "Extra Terrestrial Visitors" was on "MST3000", I decided to find out for myself if it's really that bad. Some other dubious films (such as "Mitchell" and "Girl With Gold Boots" actually turned out to be okay films despite being on the show and on the list. But I also need to locate a version of the movie that wasn't altered by "MST3000" (and this often isn't easy). Fortunately, in a recent search on YouTube, I found an original copy of the 1983 film.Unlike other entries on the list, "Extra Terrestrial Visitors" was originally a French film and was crappily dubbed into English. Because of that, it is possible that the original French version didn't stink quite as badly as the version I saw.According to IMDb, this was originally a film with evil aliens. However, with the success of "ET", they decided to quickly rework the film and include the kid and the now likable alien! This alone would account for making the film a stinker, as this sort of clumsy reworking of the script cannot help but hurt the film. And, it certainly is clumsy having the adult alien out slaughtering folks and the 'cute' (??) baby alien in scenes intended to capture your heart! In fact, it really comes off like they had two separate movies and tried, clumsily, to splice them together. Neither story works well...and the worst of the two clearly is the one with the kid and the baby alien who hatches out of an egg he finds. The alien looks pretty stupid and it's all about as heart warming as a case of indigestion! But the important question to me is whether or not the film is bad enough to be on the Bottom 100 list. I do think it's terrible and before they added the stupid baby alien, it might have actually been watchable. Here, however, it's just a mess...especially when this sweet baby alien starts killing and some horny young adults are tossed into this weird melange. A senseless and stupid film...perhaps bad enough to make the list or at least worth considering for inclusion on the list. As for me, I prefer "Mac and Me" as it's a much bigger budgeted rip- off of "ET" and yet fails on every possible level!
Whoa man, have two words ever described a movie better?! Ironically, one of the characters in the film says just that. And is he ever right! It's gone under several names but in English, it's commonly known as either the UNEARTHLING or POD PEOPLE. Years ago, Mystery Science Theater 3000 tackled this one. And, as usual, struck comedic gold! There are three stories that are supposed to tie everything together. I say "supposed to" because it's not always clear what's going on.STORY 1: A trio of poachers sneak into a darkened forest. However, they witness something crash land. Upon investigating, they discover a cave of eggs and a very unhappy alien. STORY 2: A little boy happens upon one of the eggs and takes it back. It hatches, producing a cute cuddly alien that he annoyingly calls Trumpy. Why? Probably because the writers wanted to cash in on the "lovable Alien" theme started a year earlier by E.T. STORY 3: A rock band goes for a vacation in the woods and... *Sigh* Must I go on? Eventually all three stories collide. And the survivors must protect themselves from the rampaging alien outside. All the while, the boy does his best at hiding Trumpy indoors. Until... This pitiful French/ Spanish co-production has little to recommend it. None of the characters are interesting, the alien is obviously a man (or perhaps a midget) in a suit, the stories are dull, and the ending (though it's supposed to be cute and preachy) just feels so false and tacked on. However, if you're planning to bash it with a 10-ton anvil of wit, then invite over your friends and bash away!!!
Hopefully you got the joke on my summary up there. Either way this is one of those movies that is horribly bad, but it is so bad that MST3K makes it hilarious, and the movie is hilarious even without MST3K.This movie has nothing to do with the title. Actually the movie was going to be more of a horror movie, notice the original poster of the movie is more horrifying. But at the last minute E.T. came out so they tried to make the movie about a kid and his trumpet alien. Prepare to be amazed.OK the plot seems to be broken up into several movies which is really annoying (MST3K notes this) there is a plot with some poachers, then this leads to the plot with the kid, there are some teenagers, and there are some trees. Either way these poachers find a meteorite where they find eggs and decide to destroy them because naturally when you find something foreign you want to destroy it. Well one egg remains and this annoying kid finds it, so he takes it home. Apparently this kid is some sort of women because his voice is obviously dubbed. Also he seems to have a lot of pets and is some how smart... the movie tricks you into thinking she *cough* I mean he is smart. Then there are some teenagers and all of the girls are... yeah... I will avoid using any bad language here. The teenagers are going on this trip and they stumble across the mother alien who is killing some people in search of her last egg.Long story short Trumpy (the alien) is magical and has this insanely annoying scene where he pretends to be Mary Poppins. Trumpy's mom dies and the story ends with everyone being happy. This movie is very bad, but it is very funny on just how stupid it is. Though it is slightly gross in a sense. You know when you watch a movie that is so stupid that you feel a little sick? This movie gives me that feeling whenever you see Trumpy. So please watch this movie with MST3K if you can... if not you should still watch it.
"It has everything to do with hurting"."Pod People" is an abysmal film. It not only has the sort of identity crisis that one has a hard time believing (it is, quite literally, a mixture of the evil invaders from space and "E.T."), and it is really painful to sit through. I actually don't think there's one second of solid direction, one second of good acting, one half-decent line of dialogue. It's that terrible. The MST3k episode is wonderful though, featuring some really inspired riffs and skits. It's not one of my favorites, but still a great episode. I have only seen "Pod People" once without the MST3k help and it is genuinely quite impossible to sit through. I fell asleep twice or thrice.I do have to give the movie credit for giving us Trumpy, arguably the most ludicrously designed alien of all time, and by God that kid, Tommy, is the most annoying thing to appear in a film. If I was Trumpy I would have killed that kid much before the girl in the shower.1/10
