Druglawed
DRUGLAWED is the explosive documentary exposing how New Zealand has been co-opted by the US into fighting the failed War On Drugs. Filmed in six countries over four years, this is the documentary that finally clears the smoke around the international prohibition of cannabis. Over the last 100 years the US government has forced its drug control policies on almost every country on earth. 40 years since Richard Nixon declared the War On Drugs in 1972, 22 million Americans have been arrested for marijuana. Only one country in the world has higher arrest and conviction rates: New Zealand. DRUGLAWED examines how New Zealand fell in lockstep with US policies, and shows how smaller countries can break out.

This is a small, humorous movie in some ways, but it has a huge heart. What a nice experience.
One of the best movies of the year! Incredible from the beginning to the end.
There is definitely an excellent idea hidden in the background of the film. Unfortunately, it's difficult to find it.
This is a tight, absolutely factual, utterly engrossing expose of the failings of modern democracy in regard to the legalization of Cannabis.Ignore the campaign against this film on IMDb. That there are agents working against it's message shows it's potential to open the public's eyes to an actual human truth. While framed around the story of Cannabis Legalization and it's obstacles in New Zealand, this is a global story which must be told.I encourage you all to watch, spread the word, activate your lives toward legalizing Cannabis and Criminalizing Alcohol (if only!!!) and to publicly heralding this documentary to the heights of praise it deserves.
Although I have no dog in this race, not being one who partakes in marijuana, I still have to say (as one who believes that dissension is the highest from of patriotism) that this film should be on every NZ TV channel instead as a general lesson to the sheeple of this country that they can stand up for themselves and stand up on issues of justice like these film makers do. Taking a position against the backward police and the political establishment is an act of heroism. The film targets the bloatedness of both with pinpoint accuracy. I can't overstate the importance of this, in a time when our rights are being systematically overrun by the overreach of police and state. Watch this film!!
This film eclipsed all the other films about the Drug War I have ever seen. The writing is exceptional, the editing is clean and compelling, the commentators are varied and respectable... some of them are world renowned... I was impressed at how the director wrapped everything together so intelligently and put a neat bow on everything at the end, leaving me with a sense of hope that the problems so deftly outlined in the film could indeed be solved... Wonderful, I highly recommend it. I hope that this film will be subtitled into Japanese so that my friends who cannot speak English as well as me can also understand it. Even though I do not consume marijuana myself, this film made me see why it should be legalized!!
Druglawed scrutinizes the global War on Drugs and shows how it has impacted on New Zealand. It features interviews with academics, lawyers, drug policy experts, medical cannabis patients and activists, all of whom indict the War on Drugs as a colossal, cruel failure. Year after year this unwinnable war drags on, leaving needless suffering in its wake.Archival footage and graphics add historical depth to this feature length documentary - a film that anyone who cares about justice and human rights needs to see.
