AVH: Alien vs. Hunter

A journalist named Lee Custler (William Katt) is out jogging when a flying object passes behind him and crashes. Sheriff Joel Armstrong (Collin Brock) picks him up and they go to check it out. They find an abandoned caravan close to where the object crashed. As they discover the object and realize it is a spaceship, an Alien emerges. The Alien (resembling a giant spider with a lizard-like head and torso) then chases them, after which Lee flees to the car. However Armstrong makes a stand, trips, falls and is killed by the Alien that then leaves. A terrified Tammy finds Lee and they call the local authorities but their car is destroyed by the Alien.

It's simply great fun, a winsome film and an occasionally over-the-top luxury fantasy that never flags.

OK, technically there should be some high school film projects that are worse, but excluding those, this is the worst movie I've ever seen. It's probably because plot holes and continuity issues drive me crazy. If you can laugh at that kind of stuff, then you'll love this movie. The best part will be when everyone is in a forest, runs off in completely different directions, wanders aimlessly while being chased by monsters, and then all magically end up finding each other at the same time on the other end of the forest. Or when one guy decides he'll sacrifice himself to slow the monster down and buy the others some time, even though his sacrifice is completely unnecessary and doesn't slow the monster down at all.And that's not even getting started on the miserable acting, writing, and CGI. I guess the sets aren't bad and the music is OK, but that's about all the positives you'll find. This is the movie that I compare every other bad movie against.

AVH: Alien vs. Hunter is set in some small rural American town where Lee (William Katt) works as a newspaper reporter, while out jogging two large unidentified objects crash land nearby. Sheriff Joel Armstrong (Collin Brock) is on his way to investigate & picks Lee up just in case he might be of any use, when they get to the crash site they find a spaceship sticking out of the ground & it's slimy half Spider half mutant alien occupant running around outside, the Spider like alien kills Sheriff Armstrong while Lee & local teenager Tammy (Wittly Jourdan) manage to drive off & escape. The rest of the town (about four people) find it hard to believe Lee & Tammy's tales about alien monsters but after a quick trip out there are suitably convinced when it kills newspaper editor Marcy (Darbi Gwynn). The survivors feel their best chance is to head for military dude Valentine's (Randy Mulkey) house where he has lots of guns & radio equipment but with a killer alien running around nowhere is safe...Directed by Scott Harper & brought to us by those folk at The Asylum this is yet another shameless rip-off cash-in of another big budget, much publicised Hollywood flick, in this very obvious instance it's AVP: Alien vs. Predator (2004) & it's sequel AVPR: Alien vs. Predator - Requiem (2007) which have their name tarnished by this abysmal excuse for a film. I honestly don't quite know where to begin in order to get across just how bad, just how awful & just what a miserable experience it is watching AVH: Alien vs. Hunter. For a start it is a complete rip-off of AVP: Alien vs. Predator, there's the nasty slimy alien with an elongated head & sharp fangs that kill humans on sight & there's the hunter alien who wears body armours & has various weapons including the ability to turn invisible, however the general concept & stealing of ideas is where the comparisons end. Basically AVH: Alien vs. Hunter is set in a town which seems to consist of about six people yet it has it's own newspaper (with reporter & editor), a complex underground passageway of sewers & it's own police department. Various other character's are spoken about but never seen (Tammy's mother, that fat bloke's wife) & I assume they became alien food. The pacing is terrible, the entire film feels like amateur actor's running through some woods trying to look scared when the alien pops up, for a bit of variety there are also some shots of these people running sewer passages trying to look scared when the alien turns up. At one point three of them randomly enter one of the spaceship's, I don't how but they do. Despite being able to build & pilot a spaceship the slimy alien seems to have no intelligence while the hunter alien just sort of walks about a bout & fires his puny little laser off a few times & misses with every shot. The character's are all stupid, while watching AVH: Alien vs. Hunter I couldn't work out what their plan was, why didn't they get in a car & just get away as fast as possible? Why walk through the open woods to get to Valentine's? Were they going to stay & fight or then make a run for it? There never seemed to be any clear plan of action here, the character's just randomly & pointlessly wander around these woods & sewers until some genius suggest they trap the alien in an open field! I mean how do you 'trap' something in an open field? Surely the fact that the field is described as 'open' means it's not the best place to try & trap something, right? Then there's a baffling twist ending, the ending in which this futuristic alien hunter takes off his welder's mask & has a beer & cigarette, what? Did I miss something? He was human? Weren't we on Earth? What the hell? At least he still kept that huge salad bowl on his head. One of the worst films ever made & surely a candidate for the worst film made by The Asylum which is a scary thought. As expected the CGI computer effects are terrible, the shots of the Spider alien thing are awful as it just glides across the screen without moving it's legs as The Asylum probably couldn't afford to animate the wretched thing. The alien hunter fares little better with a puny little laser that goes 'pew, pew' every so often, the costume it wears looks like a left over reject from a particularly bad Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers episode. Most of the film is set in a wood somewhere & has rock bottom production values with awful looking futuristic guns, bad sound effects & terrible set-pieces that offer no excitement, gore or action & are so dull & flatly filmed it's frightening. You know what? I don't even want to think about this boring eyesore of a film anymore. With a supposed budget of about $500,000 all I can say is where did the money go? AVH: Alien vs. Hunter looks like it was on a camcorder, edited on a PC with public domain special effect programs used for the CGI. Terrible music, terrible editing, terrible special effects, terrible production values & terrible acting with William Katt & Dedee Pfeiffer really slumming it here, they must have been desperate for rent money to make this crap.AVH: Alien vs. Hunter is one of the worst films ever made, really you have to see it to believe just how amazingly bad it actually is. I honestly can't think of one good thing to say about this tripe, avoid at all cost's!

what the heck is this? how dare them copy such a great franchise! where is the infringement law here? folks what the heck? don't let them fool us here! we sci-fi fiends are better than this. i just watched "avp-requiem". wow great stuff! this stuff, well forget about it! YUK! let's hope we see another alien versus predator film. this time a different setting. maybe this time on earth in the future where we have a slightly better chance of fighting back! i am a science fiction guru and i can't wait to see what they come up with next for these two monster greats! anyways avoid this at all costs it may have you running towards the bathroom!

the only reason i would give this a 1 star is because there were parts of this movie that made me laugh because of how bad they were, like in one part the whole cast of 8 people (if that) are in the woods fighting the hunter and one of them gets knocked down and then is falling down a hill which came from nowhere. in one scene early on a guy is looking for a working cell phone, which 1st someone in the room is texting or something with a phone 2nd he pulls a phone out of his pocket later. this has the worst scenery, special effects, costumes, acting, script etc. i have ever seen. I've seen videos on youtube that a higher quality camera than this, and higher budgets and better acting. there was a part where i saw a fog machine on a shelf. many of the scenes were in one part, seriously there are 3 places i can think of that this was shot at. i thought it was supposed to be a knock off of AVP but the hunter looks like a samuri warrior or something and the alien looks the same but with spider legs. o have i explained the ending where the hunter takes off his mask and its a human! i can continue to warn you of all the evils of movie but there is just so much to explain. overall this movie is the worst movie i have ever seen... ever nothing is worse than this.
