Simply Perfect
what a terribly boring film. I'm sorry but this is absolutely not deserving of best picture and will be forgotten quickly. Entertaining and engaging cinema? No. Nothing performances with flat faces and mistaking silence for subtlety.
Although I seem to have had higher expectations than I thought, the movie is super entertaining.
It is a whirlwind of delight --- attractive actors, stunning couture, spectacular sets and outrageous parties. It's a feast for the eyes. But what really makes this dramedy work is the acting.
That's 2 hours of my life I'll never get back again. There are far too many men and especially beautiful woman in Hollywood that CAN act, to have wasted good film on this group of characters, and the awful plot, action sequences, and directing. It must have been cast by a hormone raging teen, and directed by ten year old. At first I thought it was done in the early eighties, and was flabbergasted to learn it was 1996. This was nothing more than a complete waste of time. If all you want is to watch busty but somewhat attractive women then this is it. But if you want to watch a movie, this isn't the place to start. It was nothing more than an r rated pornographic attempt at making a regular movie, and it failed.
I had an offer for a free movie to watch online from the cable company. Couldn't really find a well known title so just picked this one so at least i had to watch some breasts as the cover/trailer showed. Well, that was really the only thing i get to see. The breast were so big that they filled the screen. NO, they were so big you could see them if you were running three days away from it (bad quote!) I would not recommend this movie unless you are drunk or with friends to have a laugh... If this is the type of movie my cable company is going to provide for it's customers i don't think it will be a big success. Hopefully they are going to raise the standard by a mile or so!
Some direct-to-video action films aren't half bad. Some are so bad they've given DTVs the reputation they've developed. DAY OF THE WARRIOR falls in the latter category. I was working at Blockbuster Video in 1997 when this movie hit the shelves. As soon as I saw the cover (featuring two girls whose outfits looked like it could barely contain them while they each held some big automatic weapons), I knew I had to see it. Forget about a story. Heck, forget about intelligence. This film is about some of the most physically-endowed girls I've ever seen trying to stop a terrorist (who looks like a WWF reject) from doing some evil plot. I don't even remember what the guy was up to, and it's probably just as well. This film has nothing going for it with the exception of a good dose of flesh and gunfire. Shae Marks is hot, and deserves a special award for being not one, not two, but three of the best things about this movie.
Picture Baywatch as a wanna-be detective-type show . . . this is what "Day of the Warrior" tried to be. Several of the female "leads" strip down to nearly nothing in front of the camera for whatever reason. This movie was about one thing: seeing the breasts of the characters. Bad acting and obvious plastic surgery do not form a good mix.
