What makes it different from others?

Simple and well acted, it has tension enough to knot the stomach.

While it doesn't offer any answers, it both thrills and makes you think.

The plot isn't so bad, but the pace of storytelling is too slow which makes people bored. Certain moments are so obvious and unnecessary for the main plot. I would've fast-forwarded those moments if it was an online streaming. The ending looks like implying a sequel, not sure if this movie will get one

Cast : perfectly casted for all characters starts 4m Bavani aunt to Aadi's sister in lawPlot & direction : A man who desperately needed a hit, came out of his recent genres parallel cinema, hyperlink, Biography, and terrorism etc., and succeeded.Beg your pardon, kindly direct movies which even "C" centre audience can understand. It would've made difference for Kadal and Raavan at BO Undoubtedly it's a second Alaipaayuthe of this 21st century. The major difference, it revolves around unmarried living together couple and the heroine is wealthier than hero.The romance of bhavani ganapathy is much deeper and beautiful than Thara Aadi

The movie is about a boy and a girl who get hooked and start living together. The boy jumps the gun when the question is popped. He prefers a live-in life compared to a legally binding one. Lame. There are those who we wish continued making movies and those we implore God to stop making movies. Mani belongs to the latter lot in my simple calculation. There is nothing original at all about OK Kanmani. It's evident we have lost our Indian roots. What is so great about making a movie to emphasize this loss? Yes it's the 21st century. How many times are we going to say it as if it justifies every bit of stupidity? One word for Mani, retire. Newbies in Kollywood are cooking up very interesting movies on a small budget. People like me still enjoy movies that project good values and not lost ones. Mammootty's son is no jewel to the eye in contrast to the well-endowed heroine Mani chose to exploit. Shame.

Watched it the first day , fighting for tickets and trying real hard I had the hopes that Mani will do something after all those flops.Expected and movie like Alaipauthey but the movie had nothing to offer. I have watched all the movies of Mani and the last 15 years has been a real disgrace for the director It was a sleek and an absolute copy of the movie Friends with benefits. The leads did OKAY and should appreciate the Cinematography Nothing great and no message. The only saving factor of the movie is about the songs by ARR and some real awesome background score. International standards from ARR Apart from this there is nothing in the movie Don't waste your time on this flick. I got a headache watching this movie THIS IS A BIG NO FOR ANYDAY

"Ok Kanmani"-the most awaited movie for Mani Ratnam's fans this year, proves to be quite worth the wait. Talking about the plus points. The background score brightens the whole movie, when one starts feeling a bit serious expecting a twist in the tale, the background score surprises as refreshingly as Tara surprises Adhi with her playful pranks. The next plus point- the genuineness, the natural approach. Be it Mr.Ganapathy preparing "rasam", Tara questioning Adhi when he brings her to a fine-dining spot, the constant remarks of Bhavani auntie. The exchange of dialogs between Tara and Adhi,the traditional-conservative-people approach of Adhi's family and Tara's filthy rich mother. The clash of Tara's presence of mind and Adhi's protective nature. Mani Ratnam has sprinkled his touch even on every tiny detail. The music, briskly bringing every emotion from screen to the audience's heart. The actors- Prakashraj as Mr.Ganapthy and Leela Samson as Bhavani auntie giving meaning to the movie and to the lives of Tara-Adhi. Nithya Menen, the care-free, confident, clear-headed lady. Dulquer-the happy, energetic, expressive guy. They have such a beautiful chemistry that i have booked tickets to watch "100 days of love" for the next day. The costume, Ganapathy uncle's residence, Mumbai in every frame, the charming spell that Nithya Menen casts with her smile, the expressive Adhi calling her "kanmani" with his i-am-trying-to-be-a-good-boy dialogs creates a strong foundation in the audience's heart. The minus points: the sequences and opportunities life throws to the protagonists. Definitely, it is a movie. This movie looks beautiful on screen, with two beautiful people sharing their beautiful emotions and speaking sensibly to each other with absolute clarity of thoughts. This movie is 100% perfect if it is supposed to be a creation of absolutely fictional storyline with a fairytale ending. But it all looks too-good-to- believe and only -happens-in-movies, because OK Kanmani claims to be a take on current relationship trend. Some aspects like materiality of a human mind-to judge, to weigh prospects of getting married to each other, to think twice before surrendering oneself so impulsively. This fact that two people are so good that they do not judge each other (which is human instinct), that they do not have ego(let alone ego not even inhibitions) is hard to believe. Both of them neither being manipulative nor being materialistic (about money), it is definitely not how the world is.The reality check which Alaipayuthe had in abundance is missing here. The man and woman seem to be too absorbed in their own intellect that factors like third-person-intervention, gray shades or each other's negative traits are left untouched (or maybe he is trying to say that they are mature enough to handle such disturbances?). The thoughts running in one's mind before watching the movie are: Alaipayuthe part-2, a modern love story, Mani Ratnam movie, AR Rahman musical, etc etc. Coming out of the theatre after watching it my mind just says- a beautiful Mani-Ratnam movie.
