I love this movie so much
Such a frustrating disappointment
Dreadfully Boring
This story has more twists and turns than a second-rate soap opera.
This satire was not critical of the Army, but the replacement of the Army with a company who is not accountable or even legally liable for the horrors brought to the third world. As a member of the US military I have no qualms with Cusack lambasting Academi (Formally and more famously known as Blackwater Security). The violence that some disagree with is most likely a response to; "The Iraqi Government revoked Blackwater's license to operate in Iraq on September 17, 2007 after an incident involving a shootout that took place in Nisour Square which caused the death of seventeen Iraqis." So lets just try to give the movie another chance by assuming that Tamerlane=Blackwater.
John Cusack was just so funny in this,, throw in Dan Akroyd, and you have lot's of laughs,, then throw in the sexy Hillary duff, so America needs to come up with an imaginary war to get the ball rolling on an assassination attempt,, Cusack who plays a down and out hit-man,, didn't we see this before,, lol, so he has to pretend that he is a producer of a trade show,, and he is trying to produce a show that will have a young teen star performing,, Hillary Duff. the movie may not make a lot of sense but really isn't too far fetched as America has almost been trying to involve itself in every war for far to long, excellent movie very funny,, recommend to all.
John Cusack?s (who I always enjoy watching) War, Inc. takes a somewhat unfair and certainly imbalanced look at the Iraq War, specifically the role of Halliburton in providing the ways of means of conducting it. There is something like a plot layered over the protest with Cusack revising his ?Grosse Pointe Blank? assassin?s role and with a more grown-up than we have seen her Hillary Duff as his daughter / Southeast Asian pop star. The actions of the characters are just a vehicle to revisit the film?s main point that the same contractor paid to destroy the country is also being paid to rebuild it. Some of the sight gags are memorable particularly the tanks sporting Golden Palace.com billboards and an kick-line featuring amputees showcasing the fictional Halliburton?s latest prostheses. The gags are original although the material is not; I was reminded of the George Carlin Vietnam-era routines about largely the same topic. If you are all to the left of Dennis Kucinich you might want to skip it.
War Inc. is a funny but strange film. The actors are likable, the film is likable also, but I don't know how to describe the plot. I will go into the plot later on. This is a movie with some weird casting choices. Besides John Cusack as a hit-man, which we saw years ago in Grosse Point blank which I liked. Here we have Hilary Duff playing a Russian pop star named Yonica Babyya or something like that. Her character is odd. There is a scene where she sticks a scorpion down her pants. And hits on Hauser(Cusack). There is a twist in the end involving the two characters. It makes sense. That is the only casting choice I am going into. Cause it just plain strange. The whole movie is strange. But at times incredibly funny and I was never bored. Here we have some of the best actors out there. Excluding Miss Duff. She ain't great. But here we have John Cusack, Marisa Tomeii, Joan Cusack, Ben Kingsley. See what I mean? This is the story of a hit-man named Hauser(Cusack). He is sent down to some Middle Eastern city to put a hit on an oil man named Omar Sheriif(not the actor). While trying to deal with his own personal problems, he has to help out the wedding of a popstar(played by Hilary Duff). And he falls in love with a news reporter(played by Marisa Tomeii). There is a thing about the popstar though. Hauser is disgusted by her. There is a scene where she is singing a song to him and afterwards he throws up.The twist in the end of the film reveals kind of why. The thing about the twist is that I did kind of see it coming. But that doesn't matter. This is a strange, funny, and entertaining comedy. I love most of the actors. So really, how could I not recommend it?War,Inc.:3.5/5
