Avalon High
Elaine "Ellie" Harrison has just moved from Minnesota to Annapolis, Maryland while her parents take a year-long sabbatical to continue their medieval studies in nearby Washington D.C. Her new high school, Avalon High, seems like a typical high school with the stereotypical students: Lance the jock, Jennifer the cheerleader, Marco, the bad boy/desperado, and Will, the senior class president, quarterback, and all around good guy. But not everyone at Avalon High is who they appear to be, not even Ellie herself. Eventually, it becomes apparent that Avalon High is a situation where the ancient Arthurian legend is repeating itself.

Reviews
Slow pace in the most part of the movie.
The performances transcend the film's tropes, grounding it in characters that feel more complete than this subgenre often produces.
The movie's neither hopeful in contrived ways, nor hopeless in different contrived ways. Somehow it manages to be wonderful
Actress is magnificent and exudes a hypnotic screen presence in this affecting drama.
I stumbled on this one after reading Britt Robertson's biography. Britt plays the lead role of Allie Pennington.Being a television movie and a Disney Channel one at that, I didn't expect much, but what a surprise.Very well acted, funny, lots of action especially near the end, a bit of romance and general all round good fun. I really liked Allie Pennington's parents played by Don Lake and Ingrid Park, they did a very good job and made me smile each time they were on screen.A great movie that all ages could watch, no over the top violence to speak of and the sword fighting is quite well done.I haven't read the book that this is based on so can't say whether it is true to the book or not, but based on some of the reviews by reviewers who have it doesn't do the book justice. I can not comment on that, I liked the movie for itself. It stands on its own. Well done Disney Channel.Highly recommended and I would very likely watch this again, it is a feel good movie.
From what i hear....this film is NOTHING like the book and that book was awesome. if it cannot at least include all the original characters, and some of the plot then it is not worthy to share the same name as the book. The last adaptation of a Me Cabot book (author of Avalon High) was Princess diaries which was a good movie, but not lie the book. the sequel wasn't even related to the book. Disney tend to go away from the books and make them tween movie that is never as good as the original book. I am disappointed in the author for selling the rights to this book to Disney, if she'd gone to Dreamworks or Universal she would've gained a better film and more popularity to boot. It's a real shame Disney get everything, but we can only hope for something decent in the future.
I don't really watch Disney channel movies anymore but I had to watch this movie because I'm a big fan of the book. There are a LOT of changes in the plot but I think the Disney channel transformed the story into something that most people can enjoy. The film was a little boring to me at some parts, and the plot got forced at one point.I think if you know about King Arthur legendary or you've read the book Avalon High (by Meg Cabot) than you can understand everything and enjoy it.The acting wasn't so bad. I think Brittany Robertson was great, she really carried the movie. She had great chemistry with Gregg Sulkin and the friendship between her and Miles (played by Joey Pollari) was very convincing. For a Disney channel movie I think it was actually pretty good, perfect for a Netflix watch.I'd give it 5 out of ten stars.
Brittany Robertson is Allie Pennington, cute, smart, and a good runner. In fact when she tries out for the track team at her new high school, she almost sets the school record for the 400 meters. (But she doesn't really look like a good runner, but this is a movie!) Her parents are King Arthur and Camelot scholars, and in fact her class uses their book. Allie is paired with Joey Pollari as Miles, to do a research paper, and they find there is an ancient prediction that King Arthur will be reincarnated soon, on a Friday night when a rare total eclipse of the moon coincides with a meteor shower. And, it happens to also be the night of the big game. Among the high school kids are surrogates for King Arthur, Lancelot, Guinivere, Merlin, and a few others. Part of the plot is for them to figure out which person (the football QB maybe?) is destined to be King Arthur. It turns out his girlfriend is getting romantic on the sly with Lance, the QB's best friend, which parallels the King Arthur legend. A Brit Gregg Sulkin is fine as the QB, Will Wagner. We saw it on Netflix streaming, a nice clean entertaining movie. SPOILERS: It actually turns out that Allie becomes the reincarnation of Arthur, and she saves the day. Lance and his girlfriend get Will's blessing to their budding love life and he and Allie appear destined to get together.
