The Boys & Girls Guide to Getting Down
Tongue-in-cheek look at 20-something singles clubbing and partying in L.A. Voice-over narration, charts and graphs, and visits to a research laboratory punctuate the story of a single night when groups of friends go out, drink alcohol, take drugs, dance and talk, and look for someone to go home with.

Lack of good storyline.
Absolutely the worst movie.
Fun premise, good actors, bad writing. This film seemed to have potential at the beginning but it quickly devolves into a trite action film. Ultimately it's very boring.
Actress is magnificent and exudes a hypnotic screen presence in this affecting drama.
So far I haven't seen a movie like this. A movie that is funny and maintaining originality at the same time. Have you seen a movie like this? I don't think so.I watched this before I turned the ripe old age to legally drink and party, and let's just say that without this movie, I would definitely be the girl crying on the steps and I'm a guy.Despite the full frontal nudity of illicit drugs, it deserves a kudos because of its gonad kicking ability to society by showing the true fact that these things happen in life. The movie title itself is basically what the movie is all about, 'getting down'. It isn't meant to offend people, it isn't meant to encourage people. Its soul purpose (in my opinion) is to say "Don't turn the blind eye because this s*** goes down at parties".I wouldn't go to far to say that this is the way of life. I'm just trying to say that this movie does capture that wild side and puts it on the big screen and shows you angels what it's like on the other side.
Seriously, every college student/random young adult, planning on coming to party in South Beach ( or LA or NYC ) should view this film. It's a serious look at the party " do and don't " list.Basic party manners and how to avoid the pitfalls of everyone not wanting you to come to the next party are contained.View it with the same mind that had to sit through the stupid movies in traffic school. It's not meant to be anything but a guide. I don't think the characters were supposed to evolve. They set out with basic characters that the viewer could identify with ( at least one of them for each viewer ). They put them in a party situation and allowed each to stay in that environment with the aide of the guide. If you're viewing hoping to get an academy award performance from a virtually unknown cast of party peeps in LA - you're out of luck. If you'd like to go and party like a rock-star, take notes. Nothing worse in a party than someone who has no class or party savvy.
I just stumbled across this movie last night and wow! Some might bash this movie as a rip-off of Swingers but it is FAR from it. I live in Dallas and it's pretty much like it is in the movie here. The reason I like it so much is that I know the "Fiend", "Dealer", "Girl or Guy who will not shut up", etc. The going to the bar and having some girl try to get you to buy her a drink or the cheese ball guy hitting on every girl is very true. Going to the after hours party (Uptown, Addisson, Oaklawn, Lakewood Etc.) but never had to worry about Mr.Belding. See it with an open mind and if you do go out and partake in any of the activities you will say "my god what am I doing"!??
Remarkably entertaining and refreshing little comedy here. The cast of unknowns do a spot-on job of portraying their roles, the writer and director had something ... well, not new, but not overdone, and interesting to say, and, as other reviewers have said - this is true. I have known these people, and even been a few of them. There were very few laugh-out-loud moments - but there were an awful lot of delighted grin times here.Your experience may be very much a matter of taste - I also thought _Romance and Cigarettes_ and _Go!_ were fun, couldn't make it through more than 30 minutes of _Click_, and have no interest in trying _Dumb and Dumber_, _Jackass_, or _Napoleon Dynamite_. If you need overblown to enjoy comedy, skip this one. If subtle, wry wit works for you - enjoy it.
