Fever Pitch

When Ben Wrightman, a young teacher, begins dating pretty businesswoman Lindsey Meeks, the two don't seem to have a lot of the same interests, but they fall in love, regardless. Their romance goes well until baseball season begins, and Lindsey soon realizes that Ben is completely obsessed with the Boston Red Sox. Though she tries to understand Ben's passionate team loyalty, eventually it threatens to end their otherwise happy relationship.

The movie's neither hopeful in contrived ways, nor hopeless in different contrived ways. Somehow it manages to be wonderful

The Farrelly Brothers are in assured & fine form in the underrated 'Fever Pitch', an oddly appealing Romantic-Comedy, that mixes love & fanaticism with honesty. Its a cute & breezy watch, with an excellent cast.'Fever Pitch' Synopsis: Lindsay (The Adorable Drew Barrymore) is stuck in the middle of her relationship with Ben (The Underrated Jimmy Fallon) and his passion for the Boston Red Sox.Watching Lindsay struggle with Ben over his lifelong obsession with the Boston Red Sox, mostly results in funny moments. What really works here is how The Farrelly Brothers keep the tone light & warm, never losing out on its simplicity. Though the film lags at parts & could've been trimmed by a few minutes, its still a decent watch nonetheless.Lowell Ganz & Babaloo Mandel's Screenplay, which is loosely based on Nick Hornby's best-selling memoir, Fever Pitch: A Fan's Life, is cute & manages to show romance & fanaticism, both, effectively. The Farrelly Brothers' Direction, like always, is simple & well- done. Cinematography & Editing are perfect. Art & Costume Design are also great.Performance-Wise: Fallon & Barrymore are in excellent form. Fallon, the current hot favorite talk show host, portrays a man committed to his obsession with energy & is equally successful at being romantic. Barrymore is wonderful as his lady-love, who at times fails to understand his obsession, yet tries to make them work. The Supporting Cast is pretty solid, too.On the whole, 'Fever Pitch' will make you smile, if nothing more.

Fever Pitch(2005) Starring: Drew Barrymore, Jimmy Fallon, Lenny Clarke, Jessamy Finet, Miranda Black, Brett Murphy, and Johnny Seed Directed By: Bobby Farrelly and Peter Farrelly Review A Comedy About The Game of Love. I saw like the first thirty minutes of this movie early last year and since then I have been wanting to finish it and today I gladly did. This is a comedy that makes me think of myself again. We all have one thing were very passionate about. IN this film theirs Ben who has been a passionate Red Socks fan since he was eleven, he goes to practice games, does drafts of who's going to what game with him, and never misses a game. But he has to try and balance his commitment to the game and Lindsy. This film is based of a novel actually and that surprised me, I feel like reading the book now, when I look at Jimmy Fallons character in this movie I see me, because he's a romantic and he's like an expert on his passion among him and his friends, his being the Red Socks, mine being movies/films. It's humor is played out through funny situations with Ben and Lindsey, when it comes to Lindseys job and Bens love for the Red socks. I don't know how close it was to its source material but it was a joy to watch. I give Fever Pitch a four out of five.

Jimmy Fallon is a funny guy, but as it stands at the moment he has never made his mark on the big screen. 'The Perfect Catch' (or Fever Pitch to use the original title) is sadly a good example of why. It's good a good cast involved, and the story is decent (adapted form the far more successful British version) but all those good elements don't click enough to transform this average film into being a good one. It's a shame because you can see Fallon and Drew Barrymore working their hardest to make the dialogue seem real and to get the best out of their characters, but it is in vain.Always nice to see Ione Skye (forever known for 'Say Anything') on screen though, albeit here in a small role.'The Perfect Catch' is an amiable enough comedy. But forgettable.

A US version of 'Fever Pitch' - originally a novel then a film about Arsenal's Football Double Season. Colin Firth did himself no favours in the UK version which was laboured and neither drama nor comedy - probably because soccer fans in UK are so one dimensional. But the US version about the Boston Red Sox's winning season, scores heavily as a rom com, and a sporting insight movie. There are some really good gags about male fan sporting behaviour and a decent look at what women really want - well, the Hollywood version of it anyway. Good acting, crisp direction and writing, and excellent use of locations give this movie a very surprising quality - way, way above the rubbish turned out by Farrell, Carell, Rogen, Wilson and Stiller!!!
