Best movie of this year hands down!
One of my all time favorites.
It's a movie as timely as it is provocative and amazingly, for much of its running time, it is weirdly funny.
It's a good bad... and worth a popcorn matinée. While it's easy to lament what could have been...
So, I bought the movie at a local Blockbuster for my young sister, who simply adores ever MK and A thing (she sadly still hasn't seen Full House). I popped the DVD in, and was getting my hopes up. So...the film...Jane (A) is a hardworking, girly whilst her sister Roxy (MK) is lazy, rocker and school skipper. I personally relate to Jane more. Anyway, so they have a giant 'you-get-all-the-attention!' fight--which I semi decently understand it (being the youngest of triplets, NOT including the young sister mentioned). I think the film is appealing to young pre-teen girls, but will make girls the age of them in the film hurl, to be honest.
I think the best gag of the movie is Trey's line "Is it my birthday?" when he sees Jane and Roxy in just towels, having just come out of the shower. New York Minute isn't perfect, none of the Mary Kate and Ashley movies are, but 3.9 is way too low. I thought it was fun and entertaining, though very predictable. The subplot about the micro chip inside the dog was a little clumsy, but that's me being picky. I must say the music choices are great, with "War" being played very loudly, and then the talented Eugene Levy singing badly (intentionally) "Bad girl what are you going to do when I come for you?" in reference to Roxy. People say it is just an excuse for Mary Kate and Ashley to show off their fashion tips, but it is much more than that. It set out to entertain, and I personally think it mostly succeeded, putting aside the predictable plot and superficial scripting. 7/10 Bethany Cox.
The film is not good... that's okay, because I didn't expect it to be. I knew this is another Olsen twins comedy film targeted to early teens with lots of advertisements of American teen lifestyle. The story, the characters, the dialogues -- everything was hollow and baseless. The film also preached a little family values in the end. But none of these were actually unexpected.I watched this film on TV with my cousin and sister and their mindset got enough satisfaction. It is pointless to judge the film from my point of view as I'm not it's target viewer. But if I consider a normal fun-loving 15-year-old I see enough elements in this film to please him e.g. the Simple Plan concert sequence. It's definitely not the worst teen film. I've seen worse... many times.
oh my god ! i luff this film ! its sick ! *laugh*. i think if anyone doesn't like this film then they suck. Mary Kate and Ashley rock ! to the person that was complaining about mean girls should shut up because thats films sick too ! kids learn about that stuff at school anyway so whats the point in hiding it from them ? and kids want to get away from their families early mainly because they don't like them that much in the first place, so what does that tell you. i don't meant to sound harsh or anything, but maybe you should think before saying tight stuff about things. anyway this film is great ! i luff Mary-Kate and Ashley !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! and this film ! whoopee. *laugh*. peace out xx
