Entertaining from beginning to end, it maintains the spirit of the franchise while establishing it's own seal with a fun cast
In truth, any opportunity to see the film on the big screen is welcome.
It really made me laugh, but for some moments I was tearing up because I could relate so much.
The film never slows down or bores, plunging from one harrowing sequence to the next.
If you expect to see breathtaking thriller movie, then don't watch this dull and pale one.The movie starts showing "Morgan Sullivan" applying for a job in a high tech company about spying job, but then he gets in contact with a woman that is going to change all his beliefs although her few show ups.The good thing that every time she shows up, she starts to explain to him about everything he doubts about. The image was really dark and pale throughout the movie except the last scene, it really wasn't an appealing thing to see that lack of coloration. The always surprising look on the face of "Jeremy Northam" is weird specially it's added with his tired look which really felt lazy and not related to any thrill. I guess "Lucy Liu" did her worst roles in this one. Finally, it's a good idea's movie that may keep you wondering throughout it -if you kept watching it till the end and succeed in fighting the boredom-, it has a lot of cheap special effects that really affect the quality of the whole movie, they also forgot to deal with sound effects specialist as you will notice that the soundtrack is a continuous repeating one minute suspension music.
Morgan Sullivan (Jeremy Northam) leaves his boring suburban life to take a job as an industrial spy at Digicorp. He goes to conventions to record presentations. He meets the mysterious Rita Foster (Lucy Liu) and he's pulled into an ever confusing world of competing corporate espionage. This has a great surreal paranoid feel. However some of it has to be attributed to the complicated mess of relationships. It's twist upon twist until the movie stops being compelling. The style is still interesting. Northam and Liu are both good. Director Vincenzo Natali continues to show some fascinating ideas.
I really liked this movie despite NOT liking Sci-Fi or Lucy Liu. This is a very interesting film, with lots of tricks involved, but Love overcoming all. Spoilers Ahead: It is where Jeremy Northam plays two very different roles: Uber Spy Sebastian Rooks, and average person, Morgan Sullivan. Rooks has himself brainwashed into believing that he is Sullivan, so he could infiltrate and steal computer software from two companies named Digicore and its rival Sunways Systems. These two companies with that software, basically can brainwash people into believing anything. His real goal was to get the power for himself, and sell it to the highest bidder. One actress that I cannot stand is Lucy Liu (except in this movie), she plays a Femme Fatale named Rita Grant, who you have no idea is out to help or hurt him (of course, you find out she is his only ally)). I like he way you see Northam go from weak businessman to much stronger person (even his face changes), as the Rooks Character starts to take over. To me, the most interesting part of the movie, was the final several minutes, where Rooks set things up to kill the Heads of Security at both Companies, and even created a program where he (as Sullivan), is supposed to "Kill Rita Grant With Extreme Prejudice." The way the movie ends is that although the Sullivan Identity shoots her, he cannot kill her, and although Rooks still some of the characteristics of his previous life (drinking fine whiskey and smoking (which is what Sullivan did not do)), it is the Sullivan Identity (the one who loves Rita), that takes over. In fact, on a sailboat, both Rita and Rooks/Sullivan see the disk that gave that order that "Sullivan" could not carry out, because the "Power Of Love" was Greater. 9/10 stars
I cannot believe its a 2002 movie..i don't know how i never saw it before, but yea this was really amazing! I must say its my favorite best thriller ever!! every scene is unpredictable and nothing is clear until the end. this movie is stylish and clever..i don't know how people come up with these ideas..at least i could have never thought of such plot! movie starts with morgan sullivan.. and it's quite blur what's going on at first..the background music is absolutely Perfect. It just boggles your mind more. ya so all i have to say is that the movie was totally unpredictable, and the first time i watched it, i was just in awe for few days!! haha
