Muck

A group of friends emerge from the darkness, bloody and lucky to be alive. Having already lost two friends in the marsh, they break into an empty vacation house to take shelter. Yo, there's no way for me to review this film without saying, take your *insert ethnicity + "ass" here* to see this film, like now. You have to see it in order to know what you're really messing with.

The best films of this genre always show a path and provide a takeaway for being a better person.

The movie turns out to be a little better than the average. Starting from a romantic formula often seen in the cinema, it ends in the most predictable (and somewhat bland) way.

This is a dark and sometimes deeply uncomfortable drama

Taking a trip into the swamps, a group of friends being chased by a group of inbred swamp-dwelling locals find their only salvation from the attacks comes from an isolated house while a friend races to save them from the psychotic killers. While this one was decidedly enjoyable there's still some flaws here with this one. One of the biggest issues comes from the fact that there's just no sense of coherence or cohesion amongst the action or plot here, with this one really featuring the sort of mindless scattershot approach that just doesn't seem to make any sort of sense throughout here. Skipping around through the different plot lines here and locations just comes off as way more confusing than anything, as it goes for the group's arrival lamenting the deaths of friends we haven't met yet, the endless waiting around for the group to make a decision and stay at the end, then switching around to the antics of their friend at the bar and how he has to travel to get them with his girlfriends which is going on at the same time as they're all getting attacked by the family at the house and only converging on each other later on in the film when they all run into each other and the two story lines come together into a coherent and logical conclusion. It ends up being quite hard to make out where everything's going on in here, and with the implication of previous events that we're not privy to at the time of this one's release so all it does is just engender nothing but confusion about the activities present within here. There's always the feeling that it'll get worked out, much like the killer family's backstory, in another installment, but as is it tends to stick out as being quite confusing. Likewise, the need for including so many random elements within this, from the need to journey into the bar to require a phone or a trip back to the house meeting up with various other locals around the town which would've seemed like an easier trip in the first place as he's going back, it all just reeks of amateurism trying to get others cast for no real reason. Even with that rather confusing and disjointed feel, there's still some good parts here. The fact that the killer family here is quite imposing and chilling is a nice aspect here as their albino-like look, deformed features that still vaguely resemble regular people and their utter viciousness makes for a good time here with an imposing and incredibly fierce lead that generates a great appeal here being justifiably creepy. The action here is the film's great equalizer which manages to be the film's main saving grace where it really gets plenty of enjoyable scenes here that give this a wholly thrilling and up-beat series of encounters that are incredibly fun, ranging from the initial ambush on the house as the group takes out the group trying to rest up in rather fun fashion throughout the house, the great encounter with the friend coming to the rescue as he meets up with them out on the road and finally the big finale around the swamps as the survivors begin brawling with the remaining creatures leading to some pretty bloody and gory deaths as this provides no real breather and bringing along the rather frantic pace here with all their big fights and encounters. Top it all off with copious nudity from those well-qualified to deliver it and there's plenty to like here though there's some big flaws as well.Rated R: Extreme Graphic Language, Graphic Violence, Continuous Nudity and constant sexual references.

Well where to start, a good start for my first review for possibly the worst horror film ever made. A continual run of horror clichés and considerable over use of female nudity. As a film there is a thin plot (we start halfway through whatever is happening to these people), the acting is terrible and the opening credits set the tone by being shown over bouncing breasts. The characters seem to just do whatever they feel like without taking into account what is happening, such as ringing your cousin not long after the murder of a friend instead of maybe the police? Characters are basically best described by actions and clothing, such as running guy, blonde in pants, blonde who gets naked, really no development hereUnless you want to watch 90 minutes of women in underwear, including a woman who goes to a bar with at least 5 changes of bra) give this a miss

MUCK is an appropriate title indeed for this cheap, mucky, no-budget horror wannabe. The film starts off as if it's halfway through the plot of a different film, with a group of survivors escaping through the swamps and being pursued by some nameless evil. What follows on is more of the same: characters bickering, exchanging insults and profanities, and being killed one by one by some weirdo types.Oh, and I forgot to mention the nudity. With at least a couple of Playboy Playmates in the cast, this is a film all about the nudity. Random characters parade in front of mirrors and strip out of their bras at regular intervals. The sheer scuzziness of it has to be seen to be believed. It gives the film a really sleazy feel which is about the only thing it does have going for it.Elsewhere, it's a poorly-edited and misconceived monstrosity, wasting the talents of an effective-looking Kane Hodder playing one of the villains. Hodder enlivened the likes of the HATCHET trilogy but is sorely wasted here, although he's the only actor I liked in the whole thing. Cheap gore effects and incessant action only serve to induce a headache in the viewer.

This is a disturbingly horrific film that is distinguished by a creatively written screenplay, superb direction, and extraordinary performances. Written and directed by Steve Wolsh, CGI effects are minimal and dangerous stunts and live action replications are used to create some of the most hair raising scenes ever filmed. Lachlan Buchanan, Puja Mohindra, and Bryce Draper give stunning individual performances as innocent people suddenly engaged in a battle between good and evil on St. Patrick's Day. Filmed on location in the marshes of Cape Cod, MA, director Wolsh manages to make excellent use of the unusual environment to create an overwhelmingly eerie atmosphere of fear, dread, and unyielding terror. Many of the scenes in this film contain some of the most haunting imagery captured for the screen in years. At times, this is a motion picture that's nearly brilliant and almost achieves true cinema greatness. No one who experiences this film can deny the utter terror, the unrelenting, all engulfing suspense, and bone chilling horror that is ultimately Muck.
