This is a tender, generous movie that likes its characters and presents them as real people, full of flaws and strengths.

All of these films share one commonality, that being a kind of emotional center that humanizes a cast of monsters.

Five sexy coeds buy the old Hockstedter place dirt cheap as their new sorority house. After holding an ill-advised séance, the spirit of crazed psycho Hockstedter returns to wreak murderous havoc on the ladies during their first night in the spooky abode. Director Jim Wynorski maintains a zippy pace throughout, brings a blithely campy'n'schlocky sensibility to the tacky material, delivers oodles of deliciously gratuitous female nudity and a handy helping of over-the-top splashy bloodshed, and tosses in neat nods to such grindhouse gems as "Hollywood Boulevard" and "The Slumber Party Massacre" for good measure. Tall buxom blonde Melissa Moore, busty Brit Gail Harris (whose posh English accent is never explained, but does it really matter?), foxy honey Stacia Zhivago, diminutive doll Michelle Verran, and fetching brunette Dana Bentley aren't exactly the most adept actresses on the planet, but boy do they look absolutely smokin' in skimpy lingerie and, of course, they all bare their scrumptious wares in the name of leering exploitation. Jurgen Baum and Toni Naples do decent work as a pair of hard-nosed detectives. As a yummy plus, the luscious Bridget Carney struts her sizzling stuff as aptly named stripper Candy and even ill-fated porn starlet Savannah pops up (and out) in a small part. Peter Spellos easily steals the whole show with his hilarious portrayal of tubby creep neighbor Orville Ketchum. The tongue-in-cheek script by Mark Thomas McGee, J.B. Rogers, and Bob Sheridan pokes merry fun at various tried'n'true horror clichés that include the inevitable dark'n'stormy night, hokey flashbacks, and the obvious red herring secondary character. The acceptable cinematography by Baum and J.E. Bash makes nice use of shadowy lighting. Chuck Cirino's sprightly cornball score hits the silly spot. A delightfully rubbishy blast.

Well Wynorski understood what any good slasher must have in order to be a smashing suc(k)cess:bimbos, boobs, blood, and board..the Ouji Board, than is.Five sorority sisters spend the night in a recently purchased house, a cob-webbed, old dump in need of renovation, notorious for being the very place a series of murders were committed by a nutcase who lived there. When the girls make the mistake of summoning his evil spirit from beyond the grave, they're in for a hellish night of certain peril as a killer, using a hook, executes them one by one. Could Orville Ketchum, a rotund, creepy neighbor who knew the serial killer, be the one slicing the well-endowed sisters? You'll recognize right away that the female cast weren't hired for their acting abilities, and director Wynorski includes lots of shirts being removed allowing their puppies to breathe and one long shower scene where his camera pans down Stacia Zhivago's naked body as she bathes her flesh. Robyn Harris is the final girl discovering the bodies of her murdered sisterhood while Melissa Moore(..a Playboy Playmate, at the time)is the dense big-titted honey who follows her lead along with Zhivago. Jürgen Baum and Toni Naples are detectives suspecting that the murders at the old house where the killer once lived aren't over. Barbii(Michelle Verran)and Dana Bentley are the other girls who wind up dead, victims of the hook-killer. Wynorski shoots the killings off screen, the shadow of the killer, lifting up his hook, bringing it down on the victim with blood splattering on the walls. Peter Spellos, portraying Orville, the man that just won't die despite being stabbed numerously, strangled by a chain, drowned in toilet water, and shot multiple times with a shotgun, is quite memorable as the red herring of the film. Wynorski shamelessly includes footage from SLUMBER PARTY MASSACRE, injecting it into the plot representing the murders spoken about by the girls and Orville. Wynorski goes out of his way to titillate his male audience..for most of the film, the girls are in their underwear.

"Sorority House Massacre II" is a thoroughly fun and enjoyable cheesy slasher.**SPOILERS**Finding an abandoned house, Linda, (Gail Harris) Jessica, (Melissa Moore) Kimberly, (Stacia Zhivago) Suzanne, (Michelle Verran) and Janey, (Dana Bentley) decide to use it as the home for their new sorority. Freaked out by their neighbor Orville Ketchum, (Peter Spellos) who recounts that the previous owners had murdered their family, in the very house. As they're able to get past it, they suddenly find themselves disappearing in the house during a torrential rainfall, and it soon becomes apparent that a homicidal maniac is behind it all. Trapped inside due to the rain and the inability to find the killer, they try to get away before succumbing to the killer. The Good News: This here is a really great example of the kind of cheesy slasher that came out from the time period. The total tongue-in-cheek approach to this one shines through with a lot of fabulous examples in here. From the way that it treats the killer at the end, taking everything from multiple stab wounds to being choked out with a chain to a broken neck all the way to the amount of gunshots inflicted upon him, this is so totally cheesy that it can't be taken seriously in any event. Even more is the fact that during the shower scenes, rubbing over parts of the anatomy produce squeaking sound effects that only enhance the mood. The fact that they're all in night-gowns for most of the film to the copious amount of one-liners, this one is just a pile of cheese, and it's something that can add to the film, as it's done in the proper amounts. The film also decides to ditch them in favor of some suspense late in the film when it decides to focus mainly on a series of stalking around the darkened house during a thunderstorm, which is always appreciated. Mixed with false scares and a couple of cool confrontations and it has the makings of some spectacular fun to be had. There's also the fact that this one does have a rather fun factor throughout, making it seem like a really great time. Even the nudity in here is quite fun, mainly based around a couple of rather impressive shower scenes and a strip-club sequence, yet the shower scenes are a lot more fun than would be expected. This one here really has a ton of cheesy points to it that make it that much more fun.The Bad News: This here doesn't have a whole lot really wrong with it. The main problem would be the fact that footage is inserted into the beginning to explain the back-story. It's not even from this series, firstly, being from a completely different film and not even one that belongs in this series. It's use is also only there to pad out the time, as it's a healthy couple of minutes used up that serves no purpose. A later scene in a strip-club is another example, being only there due to get a little extra nudity in the film. These don't really belong in the film and could've been left out without problem, yet they're in because it's needed to bump up the time. These are obvious examples and pretty unneeded. The other flaw is that there's some scenes in here that perfectly display the amount of cheese, which might not be appreciated by all. It's not that it's full of cheese, but there are time where it's pretty obvious. It's not for everyone and could be seen as something to avoid. Otherwise, this one here was really fun.The Final Verdict: This was a full-on blast hurt only by a couple of relatively harmless flaws, if at that. Highly recommended for fans of the creative style, cheesy slashers or in the mood for a harmless T&A fest, while those who aren't at all fans of those styles would probably not find a whole lot to it.Rated R: Violence, Full Nudity and Graphic Language

In-name only sequel that was filmed under a different title. Not too bad. Not alotta blood, plenty of nudity. Good setting and has an '80's slasher feel to it. I just get so annoyed with the Slumber Party Massacre footage. Hard To Die did that and so did the later-day Cheerleader Massacre. The possessed girl at the end was a little bit disappointing. The humorous touches did not help either. Orville was fun though, but was better in Hard To Die. I would rather watch this than I Know What You Did Last Summer or anything else in that big-studio vein. Campy exploitation trash all the way.Two and a half stars.
