It's no definitive masterpiece but it's damn close.
This is a coming of age storyline that you've seen in one form or another for decades. It takes a truly unique voice to make yet another one worth watching.
what a terribly boring film. I'm sorry but this is absolutely not deserving of best picture and will be forgotten quickly. Entertaining and engaging cinema? No. Nothing performances with flat faces and mistaking silence for subtlety.
The film's masterful storytelling did its job. The message was clear. No need to overdo.
On the night of Halloween, the hoodlums Vince (Kris Holdenreid), his vulgar girlfriend Lois (Tara Stone) and their friends Nick (Gregory Calpakis) and Reggie (Joel Gordon) are driving around in the van of Orson (Christian Tessierare). They see the cheerleader Holly (Stephanie Bauder) trying to fix her car and they offer a ride to Holly and her friend Abbie (Patricia Rodriguez). They stop in a convenience store to buy beer and the clerk suspects of the group and points a shotgun to them but Vince takes the weapon and dominates the situation. But two police officers come to the place and Vince accidentally shots one of them when the clerk grabs his hair. The other policeman shots Reggie in the stomach, but they succeed to escape from the store. But the van is shot on the gas tank and Vince decides to stop the vehicle in the infamous Hull House, considered a cursed place, instead of taking Reggie to the hospital, using the shotgun to force Nick and the other teenagers to follow him. But the place is not abandoned and the demon Angela (Amelia Kinkade) meets them in an human form. Meanwhile, the officer was wearing bulletproof vest and was not wounded and the veteran Lieutenant Dewhurst (Vlasta Vrana) discovers that the clerk is lying after watching the surveillance tape. Dewhurst track them down while the group discovers the truth about the Hull House. "Night of the Demons III" is flawed, but not as bad as indicates many reviews. I saw this movie for the first time on 24 February 2000 on VHS and I have just seen it again. The story has a poor development of the characters and it is difficult to understand why Nick hangs around with Vince, Lois and Orson. The fate of Abbie, Lieutenant Dewhurst and Reggie are not fair since they are not evil like Vince, Lois and Orson. But the movie entertains considering the budget. My vote is six.Title (Brazil): "A Casa do Diabo" ("The Demon House")
I bought this movie for $2 at the local variety warehouse, the cover looked pretty cool and like many times before I've bought it on the cover, though i should know a cool cover doesn't mean the content will be good. The version i have got is called Demon House, i was surprised to see that it is actually part 3 in an ongoing series "night of the demons" The opening Credits were not the best show of special effects, sort of a mix between 80's effects and power cartoon effects. The plot and or story was very simple to follow, the film had the stereotypical variety of cast members, "the cheerleader", the "not so good looking friend" the "slut", the "nerd" the "rebel", the "good guy" "the badguy"and the "token black guy".The sound was crap with noticeable discrepancies in the soundtrack and the actors mouth, the slapbass song at the start rocked though, the gore was mediocre, i didn't know blood was that shade of red. There were an abundance of boobs which i think is good.Overall there were many a scene that is so bad it must be good, but in hindsight is just bad.Plot 4/10 gore 5/10 sound 4/10 (slapbass bit rocked) casting 5/10overall 5/10 (im being generous)
I don't know why everyone is giving this movie a bad review, its loaded with the same graphic violence and humor and sex as the other 2 have. I have seen it a couple times and I think its just as good as the first two, I only own number one though. I have to find the other two. The storyline is actually a bit more believable considering that this group wasn't just teens looking to party, they desperately needed somewhere to hide and angela's was the only place around and it was just a load of gory fun, sex, and humor after they entered the house so I don't know why no one else likes this but I like them all so those people need to back off.
Night of the Demons is a terrifying, intense film that managed just the right amounts of humor, gore, and scares. Its first sequel, while far more comedic, still managed to tell a solid follow-up story, deliver the gory goods, and pop in the occasional scare. This final entry in the Night of the Demons series is a dismal nightmare of a film, unable to be frightening or funny in any way.The film's central characters are all wholly unlikable, from beginning to end. The nightmarish Hull House, which featured so prominently in the first two films, is now nothing more than a series of bland hallways that resemble a Victorian-styled nursing home. When the monstrous Angela appears at one point, displaying her awesome might, a police officer who enjoys sleight-of-hand tricks smirks, challenging her to another "magic trick". Ugh. No wonders she kills him. This movie is an agonizing hodgepodge of bad movie plot holes and script re-hashes. I love bad movies, but this isn't even fun. Do yourself a favor and stop watching this once-grand series after Part 2.
