While it doesn't offer any answers, it both thrills and makes you think.

A nasty, abusive criminal cons his way into the arms (and home) of a hard working single mother & her Easter-obsessed disabled son. This low budget indie flick has sex, sleaze, drugs, humour & lots of gore. After a slow start ("character development") things just go crazy, but coherent, & I kept wondering "what's gonna happen next?" Thankfully this is more than just a basic slasher movie about a killer in an Easter Bunny mask, the main characters here do actually matter. Highly recommended for lovers of sleazy horror!

Always looking out for independents I came across this flick at a horror convention. Already heard that it wasn't your average horror I tried it out. I didn't regret it but I can understand that some will tear it down. It is really a slow starter, before things really go wrong it takes 45 minutes into the film. The first 45 minutes it's all about getting to know the new formed family and the wrong things about the stepfather. But luckily there are some misleads in the plot. Just when you think that the stepfather is the bad guy, with naked chicks and licking drugs from their titties, yes there's nudity, you will see something different happening and from that point on, it's gore galore. Of course, it's a low budget so they had to hide that with the effects used, so they chose to put the electricity down in the house and let the victims use flashlights. By doing that, the effects really look gory. The blood flows frequently. All actors are believable but I can understand that the retarded one is for some hard to swallow. I'm used to see old exploitations but here it was a bit waiting before the action starts but the use of some shots from the eye point of the mask really worked (remember Halloween). Glad that I have seen the unrated version, guess it was the first Easter flick I watched.

I hate to get peoples hopes up but this is a great horror film. There has been so much crap released in this new wave of so called horror films, and I think I hate them all. I'm so sick of every horror film trying to capture the 70's greatness and also the Seven/NIN style films have all been garbage. "Easter Bunny Kill Kill" is a stand alone great film leaving the rest of the losers in the dust. I've seen Chad Ferrin's "Unspeakable" and "The Ghouls" and liked them both. They were enjoyable but still a bit flawed. I'll explain. Chad Ferrin has a great style that blends disturbing realism with true horror. Realism and horror that actually reminds me more of Abel Ferrera than George Romero. I personally love how he dives into the seediness of his characters and their surroundings. "Unspeakable", to me, shined in it's use of disturbing scenes and brutal characters. It's been so long since I've seen it I can't even really recall the plot, but I do remember some of the great scenes. In "The Ghouls" I felt Ferrin seemed to want to concentrate more on the characters rather than the ghouls themselves. I couldn't agree more, the characters and surroundings in "The Ghouls" were excellent. I almost wish that whole movie was just about the downfall of Timothy Muskatell's character. (By the way Muskatell rules. He might be the best living actor. Warren Oates is dead. ) "The Ghouls" was about Muskatell's downfall, I just wish the ghouls themselves didn't get in the way. Again Ferrin's style was rich, but I feel even he wished it remained a portrait movie."Easter Bunny Kill Kill" hits the ball way out of the park. It is a slasher movie plain and simple, but it's a slasher movie done Ferrin style. The story is awesome, the characters are classic, the way all the characters meet is brilliant and realistic. Muskatell again rules, but every actor in the movie is perfectly cast. Wow. This is the only modern day horror film I truly love. It all works so well.

Where do I start? This movie has it all and I mean it all. "Special Kid" who's obsessed with Easter, a hot Nurse mother, a sleaze bag boyfriend, a pedophile, a Mexican named Horhay, and much, much more. This movie was shot with very little money, but is worth millions. I can't speak too much about the movie without spoiling all of the surprises...and there are many surprises along the way. This movie was the best I've seen in a long time that tried to capture the intenseness of exploitation, but what separates this one from the others is that it actually does it, at times it was like watching a movie from the exploitation era. And the ending is a truly great ending that needs to be seen to be believed. When this movie is released buy it or rent it, you must see the movie, you will not be disappointed, I was one of the lucky ones to receive a screener, but I will buy it when it is released.
