A brilliant film that helped define a genre
All of these films share one commonality, that being a kind of emotional center that humanizes a cast of monsters.
The acting in this movie is really good.
Why SyFy why? I don't know if this was supposed to be an ode to the original or if SyFy thought they could create a deserving sequel but this was an abysmal failure.Nearly 20 years after the wonderful shark horror Deep Blue Sea, SyFy decides to make a Deep Blue Sea 2. Now, anyone that's seen the first Deep Blue Sea knows that all avenues to a sequel were cutoff in a heroic and selfless fashion. Yet SyFy doctored up some similar yet improbable and highly bizarre reason for starting up the intelligent shark program--with seemingly no connections to the original.This movie was totally "B"... no "C"... and totally unnecessary. It would still have been a bad movie no matter what but if SyFy had chose a different name it may have been more tolerable. If they had named it something like "Smart Sharks" or "The Shark Experiment" or any other title then there would be no mental connection for the viewer to a respectable movie. But of course that's exactly why they called it "Deep Blue Sea 2", they could capitalize on the name recognition in order to get hapless viewers like myself to tune in.Fool me once...
Hands down the worst shark film I've ever seen. Awful cheesy dialogue and acting. Awful special effects. Ridiculous rehash of the original storyline. I could go on. The worst bit was by far the school of 'buzzing/screeching' baby sharks that acted like Piranha's. The original film wasn't bad. They should have just left it at that!
First you don't know the fricking purpose of this movie. Actors are decently good but however they had the worst plot I have ever seen. It wasn't even a sequel it was a remake of Deep Blue Sea 1 (which is a amazing movie). All scenes were predictable not one scene shocked me at all. THERE WAS A SHARK LOOKING THROUGH A WINDOW...... U N R E A L I S T I C. Yes the nerd did live but he got his shoe taken..... R E A L L Y........ DO NOT I REPEAT DO NOT WASTE YOUR PRECIOUS TIME ON THIS IRRELEVANCY...... WATCH DEEP BLUE SEA 1 50x's
A direct remake rather than a sequel. Utterly terrible in every aspect. Poor writing, dreadful acting, weak sets, lousy cgi sharks.... the list just goes on and on.Rewatch the original, The Shallows, or even give Jaws 2 some love not this.
